RE - Scheme of Work
At St Benedict's Catholic Primary School, we follow the Diocesan recommended scheme of work for Religious Education 'The Way, the Truth and the Life'.
Each year group completes 6 units of work over the year and the themes are listed below.
The children are assessed three times a year as directed by the Diocese and given a Level, inline with the Bishop Conference Levels.
In addition, we celebrate special days within the liturgical year with prayer trails, days of reflection, assemblies and masses. We also supplement the curriculum with themes of social justice based on Caritas guidance to give our children a rich and fulfilling Catholic Education. The year 3 children follow a sacramental program to prepare them for their First Holy Communion in May each year.
Acts of collective Worship are held daily and the children often take a lead role in this - planning the collective worship or prayers. They participate with reverence and enthusiasm.
