RSE Statement
At St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School, we will ensure RSE is sensitive to the different needs of individual pupils in respect to pupils’ different abilities, levels of maturity and personal circumstances; for example their own sexual orientation, faith or culture and will ensure that it is taught in a way that does not subject pupils to discrimination.
Lessons will also help children to realise the nature and consequences of discrimination, teasing, bullying and aggressive behaviours (including cyber-bullying), use of prejudice-based language and how to respond and ask for help. In order to do this effectively, the school have invested in a Diocesan and CES approved scheme ‘Life to the Full’.
The content will be delivered in the main by class teachers and occasionally Teaching Assistants. Each year group will receive 20 sessions over the course of an academic year, but many of the themes will be re-capped in other curriculum areas (RE, Science, PSHE etc).
