We will consider all applications for an in year admission if we have a place in the required year group. For places in Reception, criteria will be applied (as per the admissions policy) to decide who gets the place.

In-Year Applications

• An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are available places.  An application should be made to the school by contacting Cheshire East https://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/schools/admissions/in-year-applications.aspx
• Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission policy will be applied. Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application.
• If there are no places available, the child will be added to the waiting list.  Please see the admission arrangements for more details.
• You will be advised of the outcome of your application in writing as soon as possible.  Applicants must be informed of the outcome of their application within 15 school days of receipt, but the aim is to notify applicants of the outcome of their application within 10 school days of receipt.
• You have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel if your application is unsuccessful. Admissions appeals are organised by the Local Authority

1. Catholic looked after and previously looked after children. (see notes 2&3)
2. Catholic children who are resident in the parish of St Benedict’s. (see notes 3&7)
3. Catholic children who are resident in the parish(es) of St Pius X and St Teresa’s for whom St Benedict’s is the nearest Catholic school (see notes 3&7)
4. Other Catholic children. (see note 3)
5. Other looked after and previously looked after children. (see note 2)
6. Any other children.

 

Appeals

We have a deadline for lodging appeals which allows those making an appeal at least 20 school days from the date of notification that their application was unsuccessful to prepare and lodge their written appeal.

In the event of an appeal, we would make reasonable deadlines for:

• those making an appeal to submit additional evidence
• admission authorities to submit their evidence
• the clerk to send appeal papers to the panel and parties

We would ensure that those making an appeal receive at least 10 school days’ notice of their appeal hearing.

We would ensure that decision letters are sent within 5 school days of the hearing wherever possible.

 

CONSULTATION ON SCHOOL ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS 2027/28
St Benedict’s RC Primary Academy is carrying out a consultation on the proposed admission
arrangements for admission in September 2028/29.

Admission arrangements are the overall procedure, practices and oversubscription criteria used in
deciding the allocation of school places.
The consultation is being carried out by the Governing Body.
There have been changes to the oversubscription criteria within the policy from previous years.

The proposed admission arrangements are to the oversubscription policy

1. Catholic looked after and previously looked after children. (see notes 2&3)
2. Catholic children who are resident in the parish of St Benedict’s. (see notes 3&7)
