ADHD
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting children and adults.
As a school, we value and respect all our children and we are continually striving to improve our practice in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs to make our school inclusive. We aim to make adjustments to the curriculum, the resources, the environment, the lunchtimes, the policies, the way we speak, the way we support, the way we understand…... This helps us to provide an education that enables all children to succeed and achieve.
Children with ADHD are not ‘naughty’; they do not need to be ‘told off’ for daydreaming; they are not ‘trouble’; they are not lazy.
They may have difficulty focussing for long periods of time (particularly if they are not interested); they may find it hard to remember instructions, or to get started on tasks.
The more we understand, the more we can support.
