We hope you have all had a wonderful summer holidays and the children are ready to start the new term. Year 6 is going to be an exciting, hardworking and challenging classroom this term. We hope to support the children to do the best they possibly can!
This is an important term for Year 6. If your child is challenged and supported to ensure maximum progress is made throughout the year, they will flourish. We will be working towards our SATs over the term through a varied and stimulating curriculum and we hope this will help them to achieve their potential.
To help and encourage the children, we will be setting homework on Thursdays and it will need to be complete by the following Thursday.
Every week we will send one set of spellings home; these will be based on the Year 6 spelling patterns and rules. It will be the children’s responsibility to learn these spelling using spelling shed.
We will also be sending out maths and literacy homework every week. On our class page, there will be extra sheets, games and links if you require any extra homework.
In terms of reading, we expect the children to have a reading book in school every day. This can be a suitable book from home or one that the children pick from our class selection. We will be reading every day at school and children will then have a reading record to make note of reading at home. We will be checking this as part of our homework.
Every Wednesday lunch, we will have a homework club where children are welcome to come to complete their work or ask for help.
PE will be on a Tuesday and Friday and children need to ensure that their PE kit is in school for these sessions. The children can bring warm clothes in the colder weather!
If you have any questions or queries, please speak to one of the year 6 team.
Thank you for your continued support.
