Happy New Year!
The Year 1 team would like to thank you all for your generous gifts and want to wish you all a happy, healthy New Year.
Our aim continues to be to ensure that your child is happy and successful, whilst working in an exciting, hardworking, stimulating and challenging environment.
We are incredibly proud at how hard the children worked last term and hope it continues into this next term. Last term we were lucky to have Mrs Winstanley join the Y1 team. She has been a great asset to the teaching team. Mrs Burwood will continue teaching on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; Mrs Grace on a Thursday and Friday. Mrs Winstanley will support the children all week.
Last term we were fortunate to have an excellent student, Mr McCarthy, working with the class. Mr McCarthy will be with us until the 7th February.
Every morning the children need to hang their coats and bags on their peg in the cloakroom as they come into school. The children are getting better at remembering to put their reading books into the box in the mornings, however some still need reminding, so if you feel that your child is not changing their book when they should be doing, please let us know and we will offer them more support. Please read with your child as often as possible. Enjoy sharing books together and visiting the library. We cannot stress enough the importance of your child being a confident reader. It has an impact on the quality of their writing and their ability to read and understand maths questions.
PE will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, but children should have their PE kits in school all week. The children are managing well getting themselves changed into their PE kits and then changed again into their uniform.
Please send a water bottle in to school every day. There will also be access to the water fountain throughout the day.
Please ensure your child is wearing the correct school uniform. Earrings and trainers are not part of our school uniform and should not be worn to school. It is important to us that we work together as a partnership to develop each child, so if you have any concerns at all, please do not hesitate to come and speak to us.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Mrs Burwood, Mrs Grace, Mrs Winstanley
