Netball Report - 08th March
On Wednesday 8th March, we took part in a netball competition located at The Wilmslow Academy.

Our first match finished in a loss of 0-3. Successfully, we won our second match 3-0 against Wilmslow grange. In our third match w lost to Lacey Green, who won 4-0. Our last match was a very close result which we lost 1-0.

Congratulations to Grace H, Grace M, Ruben, Beauty, Dylan, Elizabeth and Eva-Marie on their amazing win.

Netball/Basketball School Tournament
During the last week of term, children from classes in years 3, 4 and 6 (year 5s were on a school trip that day) were selected to take part in a netball/basketball competition where two teams were selected from each class and they all played against each other in a round robin format.
The sports ambassadors from year 6 helped run the tournament, organising and refereeing the games, showing excellent maturity and organisational skills in doing so.
The games were fast, competitive and showcased the high skill levels that children at our school have at throwing, catching and moving. Special mention must go to the year 3 and 4 teams who tried really hard and competed really well against children 2/3 years older. This is good for their self-esteem and confidence, proving to themselves they can compete and play against older children.

The year 6 team which eventually came out on top in a close competition included : Ciaran, Raymond, Ruby, Theo, Thomas and Sebastian. Throughout the year we will be holding similar tournaments, but at different sports, trying to include as many children as possible. The tournaments are very popular with the children and have many benefits for each individual child involved in them.

Intra-School Netball Tournament

During the first four weeks of term, the pupils have been playing Netball during their PE lessons. The skills they have been learning include : passing,shooting,possession,finding/creating space, and position specific skills. The lessons are tailored for each different yar group, with all pupils taking part wherever possible. There has been a definite improvement in the ABC's of the children during this time, which is good to see,and as always the children have had lots of fun,and enjoyed playing together individually, and as part of a group/team.

At the end of the four weeks, the pupils took part in an intra-school tournament where a team of children from each year group were picked to form a team, and play against the other year groups. This gives the children the chance to work as a team as part of an elite group, and to compete against other children, both younger and older. The games are played in a competitive, fun ennvironment and are really worthwhile to the holistic development of each child chosen.During the course of the year,we will try to include all children in one of these tournaments,so they get to experience competetitive, yet fun sport.

During the Netball competiton teams from Years 3,4,5 and 6 played six minute matches against each other. The teams receive 3 points for a win,1 for a draw, and 0 pts if they lose. All teams tried very hard and played really well. The Year 6's came out on top gaining 9 points and Years 3,4 and 5 came joint second each gaining 2 points.A big well done to all players for getting picked for their teams, and for playing competitively but in the right spirit.

Netball
On Wednesday 21st September a group of us from Year 4 went to Wilmslow High School, where we took part in a Netball festival with boys and girls from other schools. It was lots of fun,and the coaches who were high-school students made sure we were well-looked after. We played lots of fun games, the best one being 'follow the leader',and we took part in different netball activities like shooting, passing and defending.

We played matches at the end,and we all had a great time. The pupils that went were : Nina,Sophia,Caelan,Emma,Harry,Lucy E,and Aoife.

Netball
On the 21st September, our year 5&6 Netball team played a tournament against other primary schools from the area.
Our team included Grace H,Grace M,Zara,Stanley,Dylan and Beauty who was our captain, Mr Lyness was coaching us,and he did a good job helping us and looking after us.

We played 3 games, drawing 1,and losing 2,which was quite a good effort considering it was our first games together, and the other teams were far more experienced. We had lots of fun, really enjoyed it,and our behaviour was really good.

We cant wait to play more games throughout the year'.

Netball Results
During the last few months we've been staging inter-class/year tournaments for various sports, where each year group has 5/6 people selected for each sport, and they play against each other, finding the best class for each sport
  1. Year 6 - 9 Pts
  2. Year 5 - 6 Pts
  3. Year 4 - 3 Pts
  4. Year 3 - 0 Pts

The Netball was of a high standard. The extra height of the year 6's really helped them a lot!All year groups showed a high standard of play, showed an excellent attitude, and the passing and movement was of a particularly good standard.

Hi-5 Netball is a 5-a-side game where the players have a rotation of positions at each quarter. 7-9 players are in the team with only 5 on court each quarter. All players have at least 1 rest period where they have to score and keep a record of centre passes as well as cheering on their team.
All year 5 & 6 boys or girls are welcome to attend the Friday practise, 3.40-4.40pm weather permitting:
 - Players need to wear school kit and trainers.
 - No jewellery is permitted.
 - All players skills improve as they practise and gain confidence in their ability.
 - Players are selected to represent the school in tournaments and games against other schools throughout the year.

It is regarded as a privilege to be selected to play and represent the school and good behaviour is expected at all times.
We are fortunate enough to have a qualified county and club coach and umpire,Mrs Rowley, who also runs a Netball Club with which the school have School Sports Link.
Mrs Grace assists in running the After School netball.
