The Reception team would like to thank all the parents for their kind and generous gifts. We have really enjoyed working with the children in Autumn and meeting such a supportive set of parents, we can’t wait to try new challenges this term.
During the term, in phonics we will been learning more phase three sounds and tricky words, whilst consolidating our blending and segmenting of all the sounds we have learnt so far. The children would really benefit from practising their letter formation at home and trying to write words and short phrases.
In literacy we will be working with two texts, the story of Penguin and Toys in Space. Both of which fit in within our Space topic this half term, which is currently stimulating our role play and challenge tasks.
In maths we will be revisiting adding to help us to begin to write number sentences and know our number bonds. We will then move onto subtraction and shape.
A few reminders, we change reading books on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and PE sessions will be moving to Tuesday and Wednesday this half term.
Finally, I would just like to tell you I was really impressed with how well the children returned to school after the break and the mature, independent attitudes they conveyed. I think this will be a great term
Thank you again for your continued support Andrea Ogden
