The Reception Team are extremely proud and delighted with how well all the children have settled into their new routine, they are becoming familiar with their new teachers and the environment. It has been a joy to see them make new friends and become more confident over the first few weeks. This was apparent in their confidence in the Friday morning celebration assembly and at lunchtimes when they are choosing, collecting and eating their lunches in the hall with the other children.
The children have also taken quickly to the change of routines and are enjoying the opportunity to play freely, work with an adult and share stories on the carpet, where they have impressed the Reception Team with their listening skills.
In class, they are also transitioning easily from activities to their tidy stations, where they are beginning to take ownership of their areas and pride whilst they are returning things to their homes.
During each day the children have been busy, learning all of the staff and other children's names whilst they gain confidence and building new friendships. They particularly enjoyed creeping like a quiet mouse to the hall, where they played throwing and catching games with Tony (our sports coach).
In class we have been practising the Jolly Phonics songs from Phase Two Phonics; the first sounds are s, a, t and p. It would be lovely if you can practise them at home too!
In maths we have been practising recognising and ordering numbers 1-10, we have also been matching numerals to quantities through various different games.
We hope to see you at the Open Morning to view your child's early pictures and writing on Thursday 26th September from 8:45-9am.
Please feel free to speak to any of the Reception Team should you have any concerns
