The health and fitness of our children has never been more important. Reports of the links between the effects of COVID and an unhealthy BMI are everywhere. We want to ensure that children are eating well and exercising enough to keep their bodies healthy for now, and to form good habits for the future.
Obesity is associated with poor psychological and emotional health, and many children experience bullying linked to their weight. Children living with obesity are more likely to become adults living with obesity and have a higher risk of morbidity, disability and premature mortality in adulthood. To check your child's BMI follow this link:https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-weight/bmi-calculator/ In school we teach children to make good choices with food and understand food labels, encouraging them to choose healthy snacks and exercise frequently.
In October, we will hold a Healthy Eating week focussing on the wonderful food that God's world provides. |
