At St Benedict’s, we are dedicated to encouraging all children to be passionate about Computing. It is our intention to immerse pupils in the wonders of technology and ensure that they are all able to access a range of different computing tools. We aim to incorporate computing across the curriculum to give the children a wide and varied skill set.
Implementation
At St Benedict’s, the Computing Curriculum consists of:
Learning about how to be safe online and whilst using technology.
Communicating online safely, effectively and respectfully.
Developing the use of algorithms with and without a computer.
Building up essential skills as children progress through the year groups to use a computer.
Having access to different programs and learning how to use them effectively.
Learning how to use search engines effectively and safely.
Develop the use of coding to manipulate software and create their own programmes.
All of these skills are developed across the year groups so that children progress through the Computing curriculum and can enjoy using technology. We use laptops, ipads, android tablets and desktop computers so that the children have a range of skills.
Impact We strive to ensure that our children's attainment is in line with or exceeds their potential when we consider the varied starting points of all our children. We measure the children’s progress and attainment using classroom monitor and teaching assess the children against each objective for their year group.
